A listener’s organist

Tim’s music is full of life, freshness, humour, rhythm, melody. He plays in order to convey something special to those who are listening – and if he doesn’t believe that the music really will speak to people, he doesn’t play it.

He’s a distinguished academic, with doctorate, senior university posts and expertise in historic performance practice; he is author of books and articles galore, but all this knowledge is used for only one purpose: to bring music to life.

He chooses to live at an absurdly remote farm way out in the mountains of Norway in order to keep his feet firmly on the ground, but from there he travels to give concerts and lectures in many countries – most frequently in Bach’s home district of Thüringen in Germany.
